The Adlon Kempinski is a seven storey hotel located on the famous boulevard Unter der Linden, next to the Brandenburg gate and within one kilometre of the Reichstag and Potsdamer Platz.
The 394 guestrooms offer views of Unter den Linden, the inner courtyard or the Brandenburg Gate, and feature period furnishings and rich fabrics with bold colours. All are equipped with satellite TV, minibars, refrigerators, and complimentary newspapers. Bathrooms include separate tubs and showers, hair dryers, bathrobes, and toiletries.
This hotel originally opened in 1907 and was all but destroyed during World War II. It reopened in 1997 after being rebuilt from the ground up and now offers modern amenities in a historically inspired setting of marble, limestone and stained glass.
The hotel's history is on display in four restaurants and bars that range from gourmet French dishes served in a formal dining room, to a lively, traditional German stube offering hearty pub fare. The lobby bar features a stained glass dome and an Art Nouveau fountain, and is open for morning coffee, afternoon tea, and cocktails and cigars in the evening, accompanied by live piano music. The Adlon Spa is decorated in classical Greek style and houses a fitness centre, indoor pool, jetted tubs, saunas, a plunge pool and showers with frescoes and mosaic tiles. A selection of massage therapies is available, and the onsite beauty salon treats guests with La Prairie products.
Multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk can advise on local sights and attractions. Within 400 metres of the hotel, guests can find the 18th century Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, the 19th century home of the German Parliament that has been restored, revived and expanded by Norman Foster. Potsdamer Platz is 750 metres away.
Berlin Tegel Airport is nine kilometres from the hotel, around 20 minutes by car.
