This six story hotel sits on Miami Beach's Ocean Drive, just across from Lummus Park and the Atlantic Ocean. Originally designed by noted Art Déco architect Albert Anis, the property opened in 1939 and underwent a complete renovation in 2000. Among the hotel's restored highlights, there is a two story lobby with etched glass wall panels and a winding staircase, as well as a rooftop sundeck with sweeping views of South Beach. Modern amenities include in room massage services and discounted privileges at a nearby fitness center. The Martini Bar is located in the lobby and features specialty martinis and other cocktails. Service is also available on an adjacent patio.
This hotel offers 71 guestrooms, some with partial ocean views. All accommodations have custom designed Art Déco style furniture upholstered in shades of green, cream and ginger. Yellow walls are accented with black and white photos of classic Art Déco hotels. Windows are dressed with wooden venetian blinds.
The hotel is currently undergoing renovations to its exterior in order to maintain historic original design. Construction will take place weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM The estimated completion date is December 30, 2006. This date is subject to change.
