The Gastwerk Hotel Hamburg is a design hotel set in a former gasworks, which is now a listed building, with exposed brick, glass and clean lines, four kilometres from central Hamburg.
The 141 air conditioned guestrooms continue the contemporary theme, with exposed brick walls and original curved windows; all offer desks with wireless Internet access, satellite television with pay movies, direct dial phones and safes. Bathrooms have showers, makeup mirrors and hair dryers.
Guests can browse complimentary newspapers in the lobby, plan their time with the help of concierge services at the 24-hour front desk, and enjoy cocktails in the hotel's designer bar. The hotel has its own Asian inspired relaxing zone with a sauna, steam bath, beauty services and massage available on request, and access to the Elixia Health and Sports Club is free of charge.
Business guests can use seven conference rooms, four group workrooms, an open business lounge, and wireless Internet access for those with laptops, while other practical amenities include dry cleaning services, laundry facilities and a free onsite parking garage for those arriving by car.
Guests can stay in to socialise in the Da Caio Italian restaurant and hip Riva die Bar, or head out to Ottensen, known for its restaurants, bars, galleries and boutiques, 1.5 kilometres away. The city centre and its emblem, St Michael's Church are four kilometres from the hotel.
Hamburg Fuhlsbⁿttel Airport is 10 kilometres away, a 25 minute drive.
