The World Wide Web relies on three mechanisms to make its network of information resources readily available to the widest possible audience:
- HyperText, for easy navigation among resources
- URIs, a naming scheme for locating resources on the Web
- HTTP, for access to named resources over the Web
As an author, you will need at least to get acquainted with hypertext and URIs. As a webmaster or server administrator, you will need to be familiar with HTTP conventions.
This workshop has been written with the author in mind.
The references are intended to provide authors the tools and techniques to write efficient and appealing documents.
HyperText Transfer Protocol ( HTTP ) implementation issues are discussed only when necessary.
